Lately, I wake up each day in disbelief. The dream starts when I wake and ends when I sleep. The insane pace of AI development has shaken me to my core.
Technology grants great power, but it cuts us off from the past. As we embrace the new, we neglect the old. What if this time we're neglecting our humanity itself, even our physical form? I see people on X talking about cybernetic enhancement, successionism, uploading consciousness to the cloud.
It reminds me of the Water of Life in Dune. "If you drink, you will die. If you drink, you may see." Drinking the water of technology may kill the human part of you. It may also lead to something greater.
Before you drink, you have to know what you're living for. Were we made to survive and reproduce like animals? To spread consciousness? To find God? Or is it a mystery? I'm torn. I wish we had more time to choose. For now, I'll keep pushing the boulder up the hill. Maybe there's a peak, and I'll see the horizon.
